New Annual Deadlines!There are two types of grants made by the Foundation: Athletic Grants and Scholarship Grants. Athletic Grants are then divided into three categories, Individual, Team and Event Grants. The purpose of our Athletic Grants is to sponsor, promote and encourage participation in state, national and international competitions in the sports of canoeing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, water polo and volleyball. Athletic grant applicants (individuals, teams or events) should:
INDIVIDUAL ATHLETIC GRANTS, which are usually for a specific purpose or competition, for example, a swimmer needing funding to compete overseas. Athletic grants may be applied for at any time (One per fiscal year). The grants committee reviews applications and makes awards quarterly according to the following schedule:
Individual Athletic Grant Application Deadline - February 15 TEAM ATHLETIC GRANTS are awarded to sponsor, promote and encourage Team participation in state, national and international competitions in the sports of canoeing, surfing, kayaking, swimming, water polo and volleyball. For example, Lanikai Canoe Club competing in Hawaiki Nui canoe race in Tahiti.
Team Athletic Grant Application Deadline - February 15 Athletic Event Applications are for events such at the Walter J. McFarlane Regatta, Redwing's World Championship of Handboarding, the Boys & Girls Club Duke Sports and Fitness Day, the Hawaii Youth Challenge Academy Duke Sports and Fitness Day, other sporting events.
Athletic Event Application Deadline - August 15 SCHOLARSHIP GRANTS areawarded only once a year. Applications are accepted from January 1st to April 1st. If grantees continue in school with satisfactory grades, they are given preference in their reapplication for succeeding years, but they must reapply for the grant annually.
