The Local Brand Co. Creative is back on board to develop some new designs for ODKF's holiday merchandise fundraiser.
The Local Brand Co. Creative Greg Chinn Brings His Eclectic Brand Of Modernism to ODKF's New Holiday Promotion
Born and raised in Kailua, Greg loved growing up in the islands. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools, attended UH-Manoa for a time, and went on to receive a BFA in Graphic Design & Packaging with Honors from Art Center College of Design in CA.
His illustration work has an eclectic feel which he credits to being influenced by the melting pot of Hawaiian culture and style. Always with an eye on "Local Culture" and having a "California Cool" design aesthetic, he crafts images that embody a relaxed brand of modernism. His work has been featured in various lifestyle and design-centric publications and websites. Most recently in 2022, his sticker designs for The Kona Brewing Co. received a Pele Award.
The new designs for the ODKF holiday promotion are a mix of vintage-modern and contemporary branding styles. The vintage-modern direction is an ode to ODKF's longevity and its roots to the community. The contemporary direction has an upbeat design aesthetic that plays on local Hawaiian themes.
Greg says, "Personally, Duke Kahanamoku has always been an inspiration and the work that ODKF does benefits so many people in the islands. It's always a joy to collaborate with the Executive Director Sarah Fairchild and I'm proud to contribute any way I can." In his spare time, he enjoys surfing and painting.
The new tee-shirt collection will be available at www.dukefoundation.org in November. The sale will be launched via the foundation's social media: @dukefoundation.
